Julie Hermann: The Only Coach In The Room – ITCM 47

Julie Hermann walked on to the University of Nebraska women’s volleyball team, earned a scholarship, and became an all-conference outside hitter who played in the Cornhuskers’ first-ever NCAA Tournament win.

Following graduation, she moved into coaching, serving as an assistant at Wyoming and Georgia before landing the head job at Tennessee. Then, for 16 years she was second-in-command with the University of Louisville’s athletic department. Her administrative career culminated by becoming the third-ever female Director of Athletics in the NCAA Division I, when she was hired at Rutgers University. In this episode, Julie has great insight into collegiate sports, leadership, and the challenges of her own journey.
